Okay so I got this laptop like a year ago (It’s a Dell Inspiron 1525). I’m pretty sure the condition was refurbished when we bought it, but it was very fast. Now I’m trying to do my homework and need information online, but it takes forever to load some pages. Some sites load quick but the majority doesn’t. For example you know the ask button you have to click to ask a question? It took around 16 seconds for the computer to load the page. I’m fairly certain that yahoo has some good servers so I don’t think it’s the site’s fault.

If you could tell me any free, safe ways to speed up my computer, it’d be appreciated. I currently have Symantec Antivirus and Ad-Aware 2008, both are free editions (I also have windows defender, useless as it is.). I have 2gb of ram, I have 63.7 gb free of 99.2gb. I have already used disk cleaner and cleaned everything I don’t need.

Currently I’m planning to switch symantec to another antivirus like avast or avira (both free editions) since I heard that norton sucks. Also I’ve heard a little about disk defragmentation but don’t want to try it before I know more about it because I heard it was risky. Any other ways you might suggest?
